Size guide

With respect to size, we classify our Luxi cremation urns as S (small), M (medium) and L (large) with the following capacity respectively:

• Small urns come at capacity range of 0 – 0.5 litres (equivalent to 0-30 cubic inches)
• Medium urns come at capacity range of 0.5 – 2 litres (equivalent to 30-122 cubic inches)
• Large urns come at capacity range of 2 – 6 litres (equivalent to 122-366 cubic inches)

For simplicity, we classify all urns using the same metrics. You should always check the particular item description for exact capacity, but as a rule of thumb:

• Small urns are for up to 13.5 kg (29.7 lb),
• Medium urns are for between 13.5 and 55 kg (121.25 lb),
• Large urns are for between 55 and 150 kg (330.7 lb).

Anyone in need of an urn suitable for above 150 kg of body weight should contact us to discuss a custom order. 

Small Luxi urns will typically come in one of the below sizes:

• 30 ml (1.83 in³) - symbolic amount of ashes (keepsake urn)

Generally speaking,

• 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of body weight equals 36.36 ml (2.218 in³) of ash.
• 1 pound (0.45 kg) of body weight equals 1 cubic inch of ash. 

So, if the urn is generally classified as Small (maximum capacity 0.5 litres or 30 in³), and its product description reads that it has 400 ml (24.4 in³), this particular urn will be suitable for up to 11 kg (24.25 lb) of body weight.

Please note that the total capacity of our cremation urns as you see it listed in our product description has been reduced by about 50 ml (3 in³) from the actual full capacity. We keep this margin to ensure there is room for a small plastic bag, should you choose to place the ashes in the urn this way.
